I have no idea how this happened but the weather is the UK has transformed into a tropical heatwave! Maybe I managed to bring a slice of it back home with me when leaving *Crete*. Who knows? Lol. My parents are visiting for a few weeks and they were actually staying home in London while I was on holiday. Now I'm back and welcomed by this "roasting humidity", I thought why not take everyone on a trip to the seaside. The closest one to me being *Brighton* beach! Another reason for visiting there was to check out the *British Airways i360*. **The tallest moving observation tower in the world!** I am so glad I did as the views of *Brighton* from above were incredible and breath-taking. Clear blue skies with not a cloud in sight, the calm sea water below and picturesque green, rolling hills in the distance. **Awe-inspiring stuff, I tell you!** Located at the end of the West Pier, the *British Airways i360* is a colossal 162 meters tall situated next to the seafront of Brighton. It was designed by architectural company *Marks Barfiedl*, who also created the London Eye. To see it before your very eyes allows you to realise just how much planning and effort must have gone into creating this grand structure. This attraction is a relatively new addition to Brighton's entertainment venues with the tower opened only in August last year. It has regular “flight” times every **30 minutes**. The ticket prices are £16 per adult *(£14.50 if booked online)*. The whole operation is run by *British Airways*. The staff were all sporting the official attire of stewards and stewardess's who all displayed their usual helpful and friendly manner. From the entrance onward, you are treated as if boarding a real airliner. I had to go through the routine checking procedures such as bag searches and a full body scan. I suppose is all adds to the authentic experience they were trying to provide us with. Next up was the “departure lounge”. A small cordoned off section comprising of a ringside view of the tower itself and a few deck chairs facing the seafront for more serene relaxation. Once in the pod, the glass fibre doors shut and we began ascending. The movement was so smooth, it was hardly noticeable at first, lol. Thank god for that as I've always been a little scared of the heights. But this was just perfect. :) The viewing area was very impressive indeed, with the pod protecting us all in a strong steel and glass encasing. There was plenty of room to walk around and take in the **360** degree spectacle showcasing *all* of Brighton. I was told that on the clearest of days, you could see all the way across to the Isle of Wight in the west! I looked out of it but got too distracted with the other unbelievable sights all around me, lol! Comfortable seating arrangements were provided around the central core for those who cannot bear to look down, lol. Glad I wasn't one of them and bravery managed to get the best of me. :) On board, there was also the *Nyetimber Sky Bar* serving a range of fine drinks for all the passengers. With English “champagne” at £10 a glass, it was a little expensive I feel. But that's the image they were trying to portray. *A life of luxury and freedom, high up in the clouds above.* **I can't express how truly stunning the view from the top was!** I've been to Brighton quite a number of times in the past but never thought I'd ever view it in such glorious detail. The *South Coast* being a particularly beautiful sight! However, as you can see, my photographic shots were somewhat hampered by the reflective glass panelling. **I do apologise for that but there didn't seem to be a way round it.** :( The whole process was ultra slick and expertly delivered. My only mild suggestion would be to say that it could have been more interactive. They did have television screens advertising the different countries *British Airways* travel to in the pod, but I thought it would have been nice to have some featured points of interest so people could look out for them. The “flight” was over after twenty-five minutes. The pod came back down *(several minutes duration in each direction)* and the passengers exited via another glass door into a small exhibition centre and souvenir shop. The exhibition boosted photographs and historical videos explaining how the *British Airways i360* was built, which I found very interesting. Not only did it take 200 tonnes of reinforced steel bars to make it's solid foundation, but this tower was also assembled in a very innovative way – **from the top down!** **What a nice little touch to end with!** The ride was memorable and the views utterly fantastic and not for the faint of heart. An overall fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting good old *Brighton* seaside!
 ## On April 3rd, 2015, Cryptofresh Pictures had the chance to interview Dan Larimer at the Bitshares headquarters in Blacksburg, Virginia. `While some of the footage from that interview was included in the original Bitshares Peer To Peer Tour Video, the rest has not been seen, until now.` --------- > In a wide-ranging and forward-thinking interview, Dan Larimer gives us some insight into his personal philosophy, as well as his perspectives on the many issues, possibilities, and opportunities confronting those within the cryptocurrency space, and the whole of society. ----------------------------------------------- ### In Part 1 - @dantheman answers these questions: - `Why now?` - `What gives you hope?` - `How do cryptocurrencies like Bitshares help solve some of the issues that stem from deregulated financial industries?` **-and-** - `What do you see as the ideal form of human organization?` --------------------- ### To many on Steemit, @dan, or @dantheman, needs no [**introduction**](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@dantheman/daniel-larimer--co-founder-of-bitshares-steemit). ### Dear Steemit friends : Continuing our exploration of the culinary delights of Atlantis, today we'll be having a look at one of the most scenic restaurants in Atlantis. Sure it doesn't have the same high end thematic feel of [Poseidons Table](https://steemit.com/food/@sweetsssj/miss-delicious-68-poseidon-s-table-a-restaurant-worthy-of-gods), nor is it by the gorgeous ocean like [Blue Sail Restaurant](https://steemit.com/food/@sweetsssj/miss-delicious-66-the-infamous-blue-sail-beach-restaurant) but with the backdrop of the Atlantis defining *Royal Towers*, ***Virgils BBQ*** is definitely one of the most visually pleasant places to eat in Atlantis. Situated just a minutes walk away from the [Lagoon Bar & Grill](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-75-saying-hello-to-sharks-stingrays-sawfish-at-the-predator-lagoon-photos-video) - also the home of the *Predator Lagoon*, ***Virgils BBQ*** is surrounded by some of the best attractions in Atlantis, offering diners a true visual treat. ***Virgils BBQ*** prides itself as a top 10 BBQ restaurant originating from the USA. In 1993, the first *Virgils BBQ* opened in Times Square. The vision of its founder, *Artie Cutler* was to serve authentic southern barbecue ribs, chicken, brisket and pork. Today, it has restaurants in Las Vegas and now in Atlantis, Bahamas! http://i.imgur.com/LepRfvh.gif A quick look around and you can see this restaurant is surrounded by sheer tropic splendour. Palm trees and dense vegetation everywhere you look. A real sense of paradise, borrowed from the magnificent setting that is the Atlantis resort. http://image.ibb.co/e9QeaF/IMG_0257.jpg As this was an afternoon lunch visit, most diners have opted to sit on the outside terrace. Shallow lagoons line one side of the terrace with Stingrays swimming freely below. http://image.ibb.co/fy1KaF/IMG_0259.jpg On the other side, we have a perfect view of the Royal Towers. http://image.ibb.co/j3Vbpa/DSC01848.jpg This is one of the open kitchens doubling up as an open bar. http://image.ibb.co/e6HBNv/IMG_0263.jpg You can also choose to sit inside where you have a perfect view of the *Stingray lagoon*. http://image.ibb.co/jLhp9a/DSC01849.jpg As you can see, it is a very spacious restaurant with some lovely semi enclosed tables serving as shade from the sun and also a little bit of privacy. http://image.ibb.co/nB4EaF/DSC01850.jpg The bar is very spacious and holds up as a perfect gathering place for some drinks as well as delicious barbecue food. http://image.ibb.co/etO7vF/DSC01852.jpg Guests will have the option to sit outside on the terrace, in the main court, or on these high tables. http://image.ibb.co/ngzfFF/DSC01851.jpg I was told that their kitchen uses actual firewood to barbecue the meat. No wonder they have piles of wood ready to use on the side. http://image.ibb.co/evwhUa/DSC01863.jpg All around the top of the centre court, are names of places in the South of the US. This reflect's the style of food which they serve - Southern Barbecue! http://image.ibb.co/iYJzaF/IMG_0258.jpg As nice as the inside of the restaurant is, the front side had such beautiful views of the Paradise Lagoon and the Royal Towers. I decided to sit outside in the sun after feeling a bit lonely inside. (There was literally no other guests inside) http://image.ibb.co/gnKmpa/IMG_8522.jpg As you can see from the map below, ***Virgils BBQ*** has certainly done their research and have collected all the various southern style bbq's and integrated them into their own product. I never knew that the taste of the meat could differ so much depending on how you smoke the meat, and which type of wood oak was used. http://image.ibb.co/exY7vF/IMG_8519.jpg Below is the *Patio Lunch Menu*, there are also happy hour deals for those dining at the slightly awkward hours of 3pm-8pm. http://image.ibb.co/iDxBNv/IMG_8520.jpg http://image.ibb.co/kLG5hv/IMG_8521.jpg By now you must have realised that I am a big fan of salad and vegetables in general! So we begin with a small serving of side salad. Fresh, with chunky cucumber and cherry tomatoes, a perfect light refreshing start! http://image.ibb.co/ireEaF/IMG_8525.jpg Next up, we have the *Garlic Shrimp*. Usually shrimp on a stick tends to taste a little water logged, masked by the taste of the sauce. Not these shrimp! They are full of oceanic flavour, probably caught on the same day. In China, shrimp is always kept live in water tanks right up to the point they are cooked. These shrimp taste comparatively fresh so that's a very big yes in approval from me! 👍 http://image.ibb.co/hik99a/IMG_8526.jpg Next up, the ***Pulled Chicken Sandwich***. In China, we have a similar dish except with pulled pork in a white softer bun. This BBQ version tasted a little tougher, but the chicken has absorbed the bbq sauce really thoroughly making the burger bun a necessary balance to the quite strong sweet and slightly spicy taste. I've never had chips served on the side of a burger / sandwich before, usually just Fries. It's a welcome surprise anyway! http://image.ibb.co/cj8U9a/IMG_8529.jpg It's hard to believe how scenic the patio is. The Royal Towers in full view, and green / blue everywhere you look! http://image.ibb.co/fAN32v/IMG_0256.jpg Finally, the main course and the *"meat"* of the meal. ***Kansas Special***. They labelled this as a *PIG-OUT* and for good reason. The platter has Ribs, wings, trash ribs and brisket! Basically all of the Virgin BBQ specialities all in one platter! One thing I really appreciate about the BBQ meats is how little BBQ sauce was used. I don't have to get my fingers too dirty and the sauces never overwhelm the strong oak wood smoked taste etched into the meat. http://image.ibb.co/g1AFhv/IMG_8536.jpg http://image.ibb.co/m9xNUa/IMG_8531.jpg One thing I can say about the restaurant aside from it's really delicious BBQ food, is the restaurant staff are incredibly friendly and willing to answer any questions about everything to do with Bahamas. *De Angeli* who is the girl in the picture with me was super nice and we had a nice eye opening chat about life in Bahamas and what it's like to be a local there. I really wanted to have my picture taken with her and I even told her to sign up to Steemit. I hope she sees this and we can reconnect! http://image.ibb.co/g8Ku9a/IMG_0260.jpg ***Virgin BBQ*** is a lovely restaurant for those craving some genuine southern style BBQ meat. It's location is probably it's greatest asset, views of the Royal Towers are sublime from the patio, and the shallow Stingray lagoon surrounding part of the restaurant give it that extra bit of exotic tropical life!
## Dear Steemit friends: http://image.ibb.co/gmimNv/IMG_00s70.jpg Bahamas is a dream destination for interacting with animals you won't find in your back yard! Although some of the animals I've had the pleasure of interacting with have been in captivity, I've also had the opportunity to come face to face with many free roaming animals in the comfort of their own natural habitats. So far, we've seen the cute and curious [Iguanas of Allen Cay](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-71-powerboating-to-exuma-cays-feeding-the-iguanas-photos-video) and had the odd experience of [Swimming with the Pigs in Major Cay](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-72-visiting-major-cay-and-taking-a-swim-with-the-pigs). Both experiences have been really hands on, whether it's feeding Iguanas little grapes on sticks (and getting bitten!), or mildly satisfying the aquatic pigs with Carrots, I've thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity come closer to nature. Bahamas being a collection of islands surrounded by the expanse of the ocean, it is no surprise that they have some of the most amazing marine wildlife too. In Atlantis I was able to meet some [Sea Lions](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-74-a-visit-to-dolphin-cay-to-interact-with-sea-lions) and see just how intelligent these cats of the ocean really are. I've also had many opportunities to see a variety of fishes both at [The Dig](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-70-the-dig-at-the-lost-city-of-atlantis) and [The Predator Lagoon](https://steemit.com/travel/@sweetsssj/travel-with-me-75-saying-hello-to-sharks-stingrays-sawfish-at-the-predator-lagoon-photos-video). I've always ravished the opportunity to interact with Sharks because aside from their formidable appearance and reputation of being vicious predators, they're also some of the most diverse species of marine life in the world. From my visit to the Predator lagoon, I realised that not all sharks are blood thirsty, human attacking predators they are often portrayed to be. Join me and let's find out how true that statement is! http://image.ibb.co/nuUFfF/DSC02641.jpg ### Compass Cay Marina For this Shark adventure, we'll be taking a boat ride from Nassau to Compass Cay Marina. Whilst this island is uninhabited, it is frequently visited by many adventurers who will dock their boats and Yachts at the Marina and then set off exploring the island's natural wildlife. The journey from Nassau to Compass Cay takes around 1 hour by speedboat, and there are many excursions each day which can be booked from most hotels in Nassau. Most people come to Compass Cay to see their family of Nurse Sharks and the Compass Cay Marina has been featured in many shows such as the Discovery Channel, Shark Week and Animal Planet. Now it's featuring on my blog! Travelling by speedboat is always an exhilarating experience. With the temperature pushing 37 degrees Celsius, the gushing wind is very welcoming. http://i.imgur.com/heiXvHc.gif There are many boats already docked at the Marina but this Yacht called *Charisma* stood out to be the most luxury one. Someone told me that this particular Yacht is worth $40 million dollars. Better start saving! http://image.ibb.co/nfvhSv/DSC02650.jpg Our speedboat pulled up against these wooden docks and then we proceed to climb out of the boat onto the wooden pier. http://i.imgur.com/d4Kp7WI.gif This was our boat on the left, and behind it, you can see just how large the *Charisma* yacht is. http://image.ibb.co/kso80F/DSC02644.jpg http://image.ibb.co/bNZsSv/IMG_0075.jpg Just a short walk along the wooden pier takes us to a building where you can purchase some merchandise as well as some refreshments. Obviously, the main point of interest here are the Nurse Sharks swimming below this building. There is a ladder that leads us to a shallow part of the water. Just a few meters from the ladder, the is a swarm of fish and Nurse sharks swimming around! http://i.imgur.com/6YK2Q3Z.gif ### Nurse Sharks This species of Shark are abundant around Bahamas and currently are not considered an endangered species. They are easily recognised by their curled, hinged mouth and little whiskers resembling a cat. The origin of the Nurse Shark's name is not clear. Some say that it is called a Nurse shark because of the sucking noise resembling a nursing baby, when hunting for prey. Others claim the word "Nurse" comes from the old word *nusse* which means cat shark. Regardless of how they named the shark, the Nurse shark is mostly harmless to humans and there have been very few attacks on humans ever recorded. http://image.ibb.co/dOw6nv/IMG_0073.jpg Despite their docile nature, getting up and close with the Nurse Sharks was initially a very terrifying experience. I've never been around fish anywhere near this size. *Did you know, Nurse Sharks can grow to 14ft in length!* http://i.imgur.com/VKAilgh.gif As they swam around us in the waist height water. Some of the locals through some fish bait into the water to attract them. http://image.ibb.co/eJURnv/IMG_0074.jpg They seem to be completely unfazed by the large group of humans around them and will happily swim between us. http://image.ibb.co/dfVo0F/IMG_0071.jpg As they swim by, they're happy for you to stroke them. They seem to be quite excited by the human company! http://i.imgur.com/EdqYwhP.gif There's even baby ones! http://image.ibb.co/gv1YZa/IMG_0078.jpg I was quite surprised by the texture of their skin. I was expecting it to feel smooth like a regular fish, but it's actually very coarse. http://i.imgur.com/mO6JE6x.gif I read somewhere that the water clarity here is amongst the best in the world. Even beating places like Maldives. From the pictures, you can see the Nurse sharks and the other tropical fish through the perfectly clear crystal water. http://image.ibb.co/eQbgnv/IMG_0085.jpg ### Check out the video ! https://youtu.be/roejtsi7IxY Swimming with sharks is definitely one of my most memorable experiences. From interacting with them so closely, I've now cultivated a new love for them (at least the Nurse Sharks). Who would have known they could be so friendly and playful around humans? If you are thinking about a trip to the Bahamas, then a trip to Compass Cay to swim with the sharks is an absolute must!
Yesterday me and @strawhat were at this yearly event in a small town about 100 kilometers away. We met a lot of friends and people we hadn't seen in a long time and somehow completely forgot to take any photos there. Guess we are still so new to photography that it didn't really cross our mind or we were just too busy enjoying our time there. On our way driving back we were amazed by the sunset and we suddenly remembered our cameras on our phone and decided to stop here and there and snap some pics. This is a collaborative post between me and @strawhat and the rewards will be shared among us. Hope you like them! ___ #### @strawhat's pics in order of taking them. ___ #### My pics in the order of taking them. ___ These photos were taken with a Samsung S7 and a Huawei P10 Camera. Shoe store was very famous near Seoul Station. People had been crowded all day long. Merchants from each provinces were busy to buy good shoes first. Shoe makers had earned much money. Once this place was downtown. Old memories made me visit the shoe store alley. The glory of the past was disappearing. Shoe store was getting less and less. Some shoe stores were closed. http://i.imgur.com/CvKCaFt.jpg They displayed the shoes in front of the store but I couldn’t feel vigorous on the street http://i.imgur.com/pnBShnI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1XeEdyj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Y3ENPNJ.jpg I couldn’t see people on the street. http://i.imgur.com/9HLimgv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UzVf8sj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r6lLQGu.jpg Entering the shoe store, I asked the business condition to the owner. He told me the shoe business was over in Korea. http://i.imgur.com/QVaGkAX.jpg The Shoemaker couldn’t make shoes anymore. It is not easy to maintain their daily life only with making the shoes. They need to find another job to live. People do not want to learn how to make the shoes. Beside, it took several years to learn how to make the shoes. Who could learn shoemaking technology without paying. Rarely there are some hand made shoe technicians, but it is too expensive to buy handmade shoes for common users. So it would be hard to keep up handmade shoe business This shoes street would be disappeared not for long time. We could not see crowded and loud scenery in this street any more. In their voice, there were life. Too many things are disappearing in my generation. Most of them had been continued for several hundred years. There are no exception in disappearing and oblivion. Nothing could escape from the oblivion, including myself. And the world would be renewed from the oblivion. That’s the principle of the world. But I am sad, when I notice that acquainted things are being forgotten. I am thinking again how to live with seeing the disappearing things
